G.Round Reviewing: Spirited Thief

Koi Snowman Games consists out of a solo developer that is also a pixel artist, a game music composer (Yes Koi Snowman Games has also composed the music you heard in Spirited Thief) and a hobbyist transcriber.

Koi SnowMan Games actually has a YouTube channel with a lot of piano tutorials, it also includes a tutorial of the OST (soundtrack) of the game, if you are interested in it. The OST is called Auspicious Night and reminds me a bit of some RuneScape tunes.

You are Elaj, a sorcerer that doesn’t have much of his powers left but is accompanied by his ghost.. Correction, spirit Trin. You can switch between the two characters, being able to scout in the Scout Phase with Trin. You still have to watch out, even though that Trin is a spirit, the guards can still see Trin.
Trin can pass to other rooms and easily find secrets, the only issue is that sometimes a vault is all walled off, but you can still see through additional windows that are placed in the dungeons sometimes.

The game is a very unique take on doing a heist, normally you have a 3D FPS where you have to rob banks or steal loot, with hordes of police. Not in Spirited Thief, in Spirited thief you are a well-trained burglar. You are able to sneak by almost all guards, or will be able to stun them, pickpocket their cash & keys, and much more.

The difficulty is a nice adaptation of your typical difficulty settings, where you can pick Easy, Medium, Hard, and so on. However, next to the difficulty you get a set amount of rewinds that you can use when Elaj or Trin get detected by guards and you normally would have to start over. On the Easy difficulty, you get 5 rewinds, which makes it very useful for level exploring.

Next to sneaking around, you can also invest your coins in new abilities that you can get from Shijang, the merchant that both Elaj and Trin seem to find annoying. However, you can buy multiple abilities that will help you out by for example having a longer stun, instead of knocking a guard out for 1 turn, you can knock them out for 3. Or even an invisibility potion that you can use for 1 turn.

Beta Tested, Game Reviewed — Spirited Thief Demo - Turn-based Heists!
https://betatestedgamereviewed.com/game-reviews/post/1460874/spirited-thief-demo-review

“Spirited Thief from Koi Snowman Games is a heist game, but instead of a generic, run of the mill approach this developer has opted for a turn-based stealth approach which has been executed incredibly well!
Going even further you can control not only one person, but a full squad of thieves, each with their own abilities and uses.”
